Our Six pillars
Entrepreneurship
Growing up in Bali we are surrounded by entrepreneurs. We know firsthand how overwhelming it can be when you’re constantly bombarded by people who seem to have found their “thing”. We aim to break down the mental barriers that keep young (and old) people from taking those first entrepreneurial steps. We have activities designed to simulate constructive failure with the goal of fostering self growth and reshaping how we view success.
”an entrepreneur is someone that jumps off a cliff and builds a plane on the way down ” - Reid Hoffman
Limitless Ambition
One of the greatest gifts this project has afforded us, is the confidence in ourselves to chase our dreams no matter how wild they may be. At every crossroads, we have had 100 people tell us how we should move forward. One of the greatest lessons we’ve learned is how important it is to listen with an open mind while developing the confidence to thank people for their input and go in a different direction. Students will leave here inspired to follow their passions, with the tools to turn dreams into reality.
“It’s the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting” - Paolo Coelho
Adventure
Winter has an indescribable allure to it. When kids get out of the car and see piles of snow they can’t help but leap into it with glee. Throughout this retreat we will wander into the Japanese side country, exploring trees, searching for foxes raccoons, and whatever else may be lurking in the shadows! Adventure is so much more than just a list of wild nature experiences. Our goal is to leave students with a sense of adventure that they can take back into every aspect of life.
“The mountains are calling me and I must go” - John Muir
Fundamental focus
We aim to pull back the curtain and allow our group to witness every aspect of what goes into business from late-night accounting to fixing cars and paying water bills in a foreign language. We’re excited to involve students in workshops and activities designed to foster creativity and develop skills that will translate into all aspects of life. Youth work has always been a passion of Noah and Henry’s. The learning and mutual growth that will come out of running this camp, made taking yet another leap into unknown waters an obvious and exciting choice.
"Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out." - Robert Collier
Community
None of this would have been possible without our amazing global community. Throughout the entirety of this journey, Heny and Noah have relied on the incredible brain trust they have around them to navigate a world of unknowns. This adventure has taught them yet again how key people are. Approaching this project with humility and constant curiosity for how to be better, they have connected with hundreds of people learning priceless lessons along the way.
On this retreat, we will host workshops designed around active listening and communication. In our experience these skills are vastly more important than being able to do a backflip on a snowboard (but we will try to learn that as well!)
"I can do things you cannot, you can do things I cannot; together we can do great things." - Mother Teresa
Mountain Awareness
Henry has been coming to explore Japan’s winter wonderland for 10 years, and through hundreds of experiences and stories on and around mountains he has gained a great respect for the very real risk that comes with this sport. On this retreat, we will become avalanche level 1 certified learning how to read snow condition reports, recognize avalanche hazards, and practice rescue techniques. These skills could save a life.
“It’s beautiful to venture into the wilderness, to face and overcome the dangers lurking there. But the greatest danger sometimes lies in underestimating nature’s power and our own limits." - Aron Ralston
